"Fight Like Hel was born from my story, but it’s meant for anyone navigating theirs. It’s about finding strength, laughing through chaos, and carrying reminders that no matter the hard, you can push through."

Hi I'm Helen

I’m the author of Fight Like Hel — a raw, funny, and stubbornly hopeful memoir about cancer, chaos, and coming back stronger. I’ve been chemo-poisoned, radiation-blasted, and stitched back together like Frankenstein — and I still laugh louder than life expects.

But here’s the thing: Fight Like Hel isn’t just a cancer book. It’s about what happens when life blindsides you with hard times you never signed up for — heartbreak, questionable choices, messy detours, and those “what the actual F?!” moments we all face in different ways. My story happens to include being diagnosed with aggressive cancer during the height of COVID-19 — when I had to face it terrified, isolated, and often alone.

The bigger truth, though, is about resilience, transformation, and finding humour in the middle of the storm. I learned how to fight through fear, laugh when it made no sense, and come out the other side a little scarred but stronger than I ever imagined.

My mission? To tell the truth — the ugly, the absurd, and the triumphant — so no one has to feel alone in their fight. Whether you’re navigating illness, grief, or just the chaos of being human, I want my words to hand you a little bit of hope, a reminder that your story matters too, and maybe even a laugh when you least expect it.

Xo,

Hel
